About Us

Loddon Community Cinema has been operating since August 2009 and was established by a group of volunteers with start-up help from Loddon Parish Council, Saffron Community Foundation, Chet Valley Community Development and Creative Arts East.

Like other community cinemas, we provide the opportunity to enjoy the big-screen experience locally, in the company of like-minded friends.  Rural Cinema, Village Screen, Flicks in the Sticks or whatever you like to call it, is enjoying something of a boom and the number of rural film groups has doubled in the last 10 years.

These local groups mostly screen recent films that maybe had only had a brief release at a specialist venue like Cinema City in Norwich and have never hit the mass-market cinemas or TV. They also tend to show more British films than the multiplexes.  and screen some classic films that have been reissued in a fresh print.
